Thrilling duels, packed stands, and high emotions in the Porsche-Arena
The twelve preliminary round matches in Groups C and G of the Women's Handball World Championship, which took place in Stuttgart from November 26 to December 1, offered everything that makes a handball fan's heart beat faster: incredible excitement, a great atmosphere, and a rousing sense of community. A total of 27,138 spectators watched the games in the arena – four match days alone were completely sold out, each with 5,527 fans. The Porsche Arena once again hosted a passionate and colorful handball party.
High praise for Stuttgart as host
Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Federation, expressed his high regard for the location and the arena: "We are delighted to have played in Stuttgart once again. As always, the conditions in the Porsche-Arena were excellent – even the lighting was renewed before the tournament in an economically and ecologically optimal manner, ensuring perfect illumination of the playing field."
Andreas Kroll, Managing Director of in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft, is also delighted with the fantastic tournament: “This World Cup has once again demonstrated the special energy that is generated in the Porsche-Arena when top international teams meet such an enthusiastic audience. The atmosphere was fantastic throughout – loud, warm, incredibly close to the action, and fair at all times. You could really feel how much our city lives and loves this sport."
Outlook: The World Cup moves on – Stuttgart continues its handball tradition
After the preliminary round matches in the Porsche-Arena, the World Cup now moves on to the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund for the main round. For Stuttgart, the successful hosting of the tournament marks the end of another chapter in handball history, but the city's handball story continues seamlessly: in addition to the annual Haushahn Final4 for women and the regular Bundesliga home games of TVB Stuttgart, the next big event is coming up in about a year: the Men's Handball World Championship in January 2027, which will once again take place in Germany. Here, too, Stuttgart and the Porsche-Arena will once again play an important role. Advance ticket sales for this further handball mega-highlight will start on December 15, 2025.
