Women's World Handball Championship: Groups have been drawn
Serbia, Iceland and Uruguay will be the opponents of the German women's national team at the home World Cup starting on 26 November 2025, according to the draw on Thursday evening at the Noordbrabants Museum in the Dutch World Cup venue s'Hertogenbosch.
"We are happy to have two European teams in the group because we know this type of handball. Uruguay are unknown, so of course we're big favourites," said national coach Markus Gaugisch about the opponents in Group C.
The DHB team will play all of their preliminary round matches in the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart, with the opening match on 26 November 2025 against Iceland, followed by Uruguay two days later and then Serbia on 30 November.
The top three teams in each preliminary group qualify for the main round. If Germany advances to the second phase, the tournament will continue in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle from 2 December.
